Water system regulatory compliance and the paperwork behind it
Drinking water compliance is mostly a schedule. Samples are due at set intervals, reports are due at set dates, and the records have to be there when the state asks. We track that calendar for you and handle the correspondence with the State Water Board.
Requirements for California water systems come from the state, and nothing on this page is legal advice. We work from what the State Water Board publishes and from what your system is actually required to do.
The samples the reports depend on are covered by our sampling and courier service, and the certified side of the system by our operator coverage. Each of these reports is explained in the water regulations FAQ.

Compliance questions we get asked
- What reporting do you help with?
- SAFER reports, consumer confidence reports, bacteriological sample siting plans, monthly compliance reviews, monitoring schedule review, compliance tracking, recordkeeping and correspondence with the State Water Board.
- Do you deal with the State Water Board directly?
- Yes. State Water Board reporting and correspondence is part of the compliance support we provide, alongside monitoring schedule review, compliance tracking and regulatory recordkeeping. What each report explains in plain terms is covered in our water regulations FAQ.
- How quickly can you start if a reporting deadline is close?
- Same day if it is urgent, otherwise within the same week. Tell us which report is due and what date is on the notice, and we will tell you what the response involves before anything is agreed.
- What does compliance support cost?
- It is quoted for your system, because the workload depends on the size of the system, the monitoring it carries and what the state is currently asking of it.
